Lager Jus

Merryck’s back with a new show that, despite the title, has absolutely nothing to do with cooking. Just another hour of new jokes and daft stories to cheer you up in these troubled times. Many comedians produce shows with depth and meaning, that will slowly reveal some kind of message, and you may leave having learned something about the world around you and, perhaps even, yourself. None of that nonsense here. You will learn nothing and may even leave slightly thicker than when you arrived. It’s a good laugh though, and goes down well with a pint of chemical Lager or other similar non-organic beverages.

Paul Merryck Comedian

Biography

Paul Merryck is an Essex based comedian who has been making a name for himself as one of the more original and outrageous character acts on the UK comedy circuit. Feckless, amoral and utterly unabashed, this middle-aged chancer disdainfully deconstructs the disaster that is his life, in a hilarious sequence of short gags and tall stories.

“The Essex bloke is something of a geezer …plenty of showbiz patter…. his set proves very effective…. gag-focussed delivery…. high laugh rate…. you’d think that the spirit of Mike Reid is alive and well”

Steve Bennett – Chortle July 2018

“You could see him going down great in front of a liquored-up comedy club crowd on a Friday night”

Chortle August 2025

“Very, very, very funny. If I had a club I wouldn’t think twice about booking him to headline it”

Eddy Brimson – Tough Gig Podcast January 2025 - having watched Paul Merryck perform an opening 20 spot at Bearcat Comedy in Twickenham

“Paul Merryck’s good-natured, gag-laden banter made for a fun, uplifting set with lots of charm”

Paul Golder – Phoenix FM July 2019

“**** (4 stars) Cheeky, effulgent and playful…a happy-go-lucky bloke to spark laughs throughout the audience”
