FREEDOM CAMP

A dark comedy about being American— whether you want to be or not.

What happens when your lifelong dream of serving your country turns into an on-again, off-again relationship with a nation that feels more like a toxic ex? Freedom Camp is an autobiographical solo show that takes you from Washington, D.C., to the world beyond, tracing one American’s uneasy love affair with the land of the free.

From surviving high school bullying to working as a Congressional Page, from unsettling chats with grandma’s maybe-spy boyfriend to clocking in at a billionaire’s tech empire— this show unpacks the experiences that shaped a life, a perspective, and a growing disillusionment. And since the story leads right up to the present, who knows?! It all depends on the state of world affairs.

Americans are raised to believe in freedom— but what does that really mean? Is being American itself a kind of indoctrination? And how is the idea of freedom used to manipulate and control? Freedom Camp explores the contradictions of American identity and what it means to walk away, only to find yourself still tangled in its grasp.

Blending razor-sharp storytelling with dark humor, Freedom Camp isn’t stand-up— it’s theatre that bites. A smart, unsettling, and deeply personal look at the American Dream from someone watching it from the outside.

Come laugh, cringe, and question everything you thought you knew about freedom.
