Kick Ass Hostel began as a Free Festival venue in 2023 with a very succesful launch.
The venue is located at the junction of Cowgate, Grassmarke and Candlemaker row making it an amazing and very visable location at the centre of all things Fringe, close to many leading venues, and the hugely busy Royal Mile, Cowgate and Grassmarket areas.
The venue also benefits from it's own audience, situated within a friendly bar in a busy hostel, which also markets shows at it's sister venue - The Kick Ass Hostel on West Port at the other end of Grassmarket.
Performance Space: Fringe Venue

Stage: 2m (wide) by 1.5m (deep) stage, on flat floor. There is no backstage area.
- Seating: Capacity 45 people, fully seated.

Lighting: 2xPar Can to flood light stage.
- Sound: 4 Channel Mixer, cables for MP3 player, with 2 Mics, Cables and Mic
stands. Performers own sound equipment can be added easily
- AV: There is TV screen on stage.
- Storage: There is a very small area for equipment at the venues
cellar for props
and equipment, shared with other groups.
- Bar: There is no bar in the room, the room is accessible from the main bar next door through a door.
- Access: The space is disabled accessible, located on the ground floor of the venue.
