You Can Call it Confirmation Bias

You Can Call it Confirmation Bias is an expanded poem- a combination of movement and spoken word. It playfully explores fortune telling, folklore and friendship. The piece began as an exchange of letters between two friends and has grown into a tender, funny and absurd reflection on love and life. Two performers talk and dance with each other, explaining the difficulties of trying to predict the future. Moving from the personal to universal, it is an ode to embracing uncertainty.

Audience feedback for Miracle Fish:

‘It was brilliant... funny, thought provoking and moving.’

Both performers trained in Fine Art before achieving MFAs in Creative Practice at Trinity Laban. They bring their unique understanding of both visual art and movement to performance making which culminates in experimental and innovative work which straddles dance, writing, poetry and installation.

This work is made possible by the Society for Theatre Research’s 2023 practitioner grant.
