Let's Fringe Again

Welcome to the 2021 Free Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

We're very happy to be back! In venues and also online from August 6th-30th this year.

There's a few changes this year, to help us to #FringeSafely during COVID times... The main one is out in-venue shows will be ticketed with a 'Pay What you Want' option - this is to keep audience numbers controlled and venues safe for everyone, and so audiences know they can get into shows with limited capacities and social distacing in place for everyones safety and comfort.

And if you don't want to venuture into venues just yet, we understand - so we also have shows to watch online... and nearer the Fringe there'll be details of how to watch some of our in-venue shows online too.

The Free Fringe Festival is back in Edinburgh - August 6th to 30th, 2021!

And welcome to our brand new programme programme of Edinburgh Fringe Shows... bringing you art, entertainment and laughter to you from four Edinburgh venues - and direct to your living rooms with online events too.

Thanks to some last-minute COVID rule changes and speedy programming, we are now ready to share with you our in-venue shows this year at The Counting House, 32 Below, Free Sisters and Hanover Tap.

We are the biggest comedy producer at the Fringe - and don't forget we also have a huge programme of cabaret, theatre, music, children's shows and more.

This year we have 653 performances of 62 shows across our venues and online.... so it's finally time to get Fringing again on the streets of Edinburgh!

Running the Free Festival costs a lot of Money

Some of this money is recouped through sponsorship & advertising. If you would like to contribute and help keep these venues free for performers and audiences click here

Best in Free: Best of the Fringe

With award winners and nominees, over many years we've had critically acclaimed Fringes, alongside a bucket-load of four and five-star reviewed shows.

This means our shows are free and also some of the best of the Fringe - while we allow performers and audiences experience the freedom too, with a chance to experiment and enjoy, just without the huge costs! Just what the Fringe should be!

Pay What you Want & COVID Safety in 2021

Book Tickets for the shows you'd like to see this year to guarantee entry - Use the links on this site to book direct with the Fringe Box Offce. Or you can still turn up at the venue to chance getting in, and making a volountary donation at the end.

Ticketing shows this year helps us keep everyone safe by controling capacity and lets the venues know who is coming to organise distanced seating in groups - so we'd prefer you to book! (And having a ticket you also know you'll get in with reduced capacities!)

And all of the ticket price for this advanced donation goes to the performer, which helps them too after a tough 18 months of restrictions.

Free Freinge Festival shows in Edinburgh
653 Performances, 62 Shows

In 2019 we had over 9,000 performances of 400 shows... and then COVID happened!

Last year, we kept the Free Festival going online, and we're so happy to be back now in venues for 2021 - even though it is a much smaller programme that is only possible in venues that are large enough for social distancing. Your safety is our priority.

We hope you enjoy this years programme - and we look forward to being back in full force again in 2022 with no restrictions... It's going to be huge!
