Bar is located on Newington Road, which leads in a straight line
onto South Clerk Street, and the South/North Bridge,
intersecting with the Royal Mile.
The venue is a new venue for Free
Festival and has only been running as a bar for a year, under a
new owner, which has seen the bar completely refurbished. It's
a bar with a friendly atmosphere, new decor, and a wide
selection of drinks that attracts locals and tourists who stay
in the accommodation all around this part of town.
The venue is close to Clerk's Bar,
and also The Queens Hall and Summerhall. As the Fringe moves
further south this is in an great location close to all of the
Southside venues, and in a straight line from the royal mile to
get people to the venue from flyering.
Stage - Roughly
4m Wide & 1.5 m deep on the flat. A
larger area can be used by removing some seats. Backstage/wingspace
to stage right, this is also where the sound position is
Seating - Capacity 55 seated,
with room for 7 people standing along the side if full..
1xPar Can to flood light the stage.
Sound - 4 Channel Mixer,
Cables for MP3 Player, 2 Mics, Cables and Mic
stands. Performers own sound equipment can be added easily.
Audio Visual - There is
no screen in this room, but it is suitable for shows bringing a
projector and screen.
There is a very small area for equipment in the venues
cellar, shared between all shows.
