Located on Blair Street, between the Royal Mile and Cowgate, the City Café is right in the heart of the Fringe. Refurbished late 2010, and a Free Festival venue since 2008 the City Café has always been a in the thick of things, with performances inside, and the vibrant street performances from the Royal Mile and Tron Square Outside.
Types of Performances possible at The City Café
City Cafe is not only a popular performance space, but a popular
cafe/bar for Fringe performers because of it's proximity to the Royal
Mile and it's inexpensive food and drink. In it's new incarnation as a
family friendly diner upstairs, and venue downstairs since it's
refurbishment, it has proved even more popular.
The venue is ideal for all types of performance, with
a single basement room, with a low ceiling ideal for stand-up shows and
any show that suits an intimate feeling space. The space is available
all day from Midday until 2am.
Space: City Two - Basement Bar
x 2m raised stage area, larger area possible on flat floor. No proper
backstage area (there is a very small area behind sound booth that can
be used for changing). Low flat ceiling.
is 80 fully seated in rows, plus capacity for 20 people to stand at the
back and sides of the room.
stage flood lighting, 2 x Par cans. additional lighting can be added.
room is supplied with an 8 channel mixer, with cable for MP3 player, 2xMicrophones, and 2xmic stands. Additional Sound
equipment can easily be added to the sound booth.
